Privacy policy

Career Counsel Desk is a career counselling practice run by Meghna Jain (“we”, “us”). This policy explains what personal information we collect when you visit our website or book a programme, why we collect it, and the choices you have.

What we collect

  • Booking details you enter: student’s name, parent or guardian’s name, the student’s class or stage, mobile (WhatsApp) number, email address, city, the date or programme you choose, the number of family members attending, and any question you choose to share.
  • Payment reference: the UPI transaction ID you enter after paying. Payments are made in your own UPI app (Google Pay, PhonePe, Paytm or similar). We do not see or store your bank account, card or UPI PIN.
  • Messages: anything you send us by WhatsApp, phone or email.
  • Website usage: pages viewed, buttons clicked, the website or ad that brought you here, and device and browser information, collected through cookies and similar technologies (see “Analytics and advertising” below).

Children’s information

Our programmes are for school students and their families. Bookings should be made by a parent or legal guardian, who provides the student’s details on the student’s behalf. By submitting a booking for a student under 18, you confirm that you are their parent or legal guardian, or are acting with their consent. We use students’ information only to deliver the programme you booked. We do not use it for advertising profiles.

How we use your information

  • To confirm your booking, verify your payment and send session details, reminders and essential updates by WhatsApp, phone or email.
  • To deliver the webinar, workshop or counselling session and prepare for it.
  • To answer your questions and handle cancellations, rescheduling and refunds.
  • To keep accounting and tax records as required by law.
  • To understand how visitors use our website and to measure and improve our advertising.

We do not sell your personal information. We do not send marketing messages unrelated to your booking unless you have asked to hear from us. You can tell us to stop at any time.

Analytics and advertising

Our programme pages use Google Tag Manager, Google Analytics, Google Ads conversion tracking and the Meta (Facebook and Instagram) Pixel. These tools use cookies and similar technologies to record visits and actions such as starting or submitting a booking form, so we can see which pages and ads work and show relevant ads to people who visited our site. Google and Meta process this information under their own privacy policies. We do not send your name, phone number, email address or the student’s details to these tools.

You can limit this tracking by blocking or clearing cookies in your browser, by using the Google Analytics opt-out add-on, through Google ad settings, and through your Meta ad preferences.

Who we share information with

  • Service providers that help us run the website and bookings: our web hosting provider, Google (email and analytics), Meta (advertising measurement) and WhatsApp (messaging). They may store data on servers in India or other countries.
  • Authorities, where we are required to by law.

We share only what each provider needs to do its job.

How long we keep it

We keep booking details for as long as we need them to deliver your programme and follow up afterwards, and payment and invoice records for as long as Indian accounting and tax law requires. After that, we delete or anonymise them. Website analytics data is kept for up to 14 months.

Your choices and rights

You can ask us to show you the personal information we hold about you or your child, correct it, or delete it where we no longer need it. You can also withdraw any consent you have given. Email careercounseldesk@gmail.com and we will reply within 30 days. We handle personal information in line with applicable Indian law, including the Information Technology Act, 2000 and the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023.

Security

Our website uses HTTPS. Booking details are stored in access-restricted systems available only to the people who run Career Counsel Desk. No method of sending or storing data is completely secure, but we take reasonable care to protect your information.

Terms of service

These terms apply when you book or attend a Career Counsel Desk programme. The terms shown on each programme’s booking page also apply. If they differ from these, the programme page applies.

Bookings and payment

  • Prices are in Indian rupees (₹) and are shown on each programme page.
  • You pay by UPI to the UPI ID or Google Pay number shown on the booking page, then enter your UPI transaction ID. Your place is confirmed only after we have checked the payment, and we confirm it on WhatsApp.
  • For The Pathway, an appointment is confirmed once a time is agreed and payment is verified.
  • Please give accurate details. We are not responsible for missed messages caused by an incorrect phone number or email address.

Programmes

  • Base Camp is an online webinar for students in Classes 8–10 and their parents. The joining link is for the registered participant and family only, and must not be shared.
  • The Crossroads is an in-person workshop for students in Classes 11–12 and their parents. The ₹2,500 fee covers two participants, and each additional family member costs ₹799. The venue and timing are shared on WhatsApp after registration.
  • The Pathway is one-to-one counselling in two sessions: 60 minutes, then 30 minutes four to six weeks later. Psychometric assessments are not included unless agreed separately before payment.

What counselling can and cannot do

Our programmes provide career guidance and support decision-making. They do not guarantee admission, marks, employment, salary or any particular outcome. Final decisions about studies and careers remain with the student and family. Information shared about courses, colleges and careers is general guidance and may change, so please check important details with the institution concerned.

Conduct and content

  • Please treat other participants and the counsellor with respect. We may remove anyone who disrupts a session, without a refund.
  • Session materials are for your personal use. Please do not record, copy or share sessions or materials without our permission.

Liability and governing law

To the extent the law allows, our total liability for any claim relating to a booking is limited to the fee you paid for that booking. These terms are governed by the laws of India. Nothing in them limits your statutory rights as a consumer.

To cancel or reschedule, message us on WhatsApp at +91 99236 70291 or email careercounseldesk@gmail.com with your booking reference. Approved refunds are paid back to the UPI account you paid from, normally within 7 working days.
